Technology and Vocational education Programmes

Admission requirements for Undergraduate students

Currently, there are two operational programmes in the department:

  1. Technical/Technology Education
  2. Business Education

Recently, senate had given approval for Agricultural Science and Home Economics Education programmes in the department; they will take off in due course.

 

Admission Requirements

  1. Technical/Technology Education Programme

Options:

i. Building/Woodwork Technology

ii.Electrical/Electronics Technology

iii. Mechanical/Automobile Technology

 

Candidates should possess any of the following:

  1. Credit level passes in five (5) subjects at the Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSSC), NECO, NABTEB or any other equivalent at not more than two sittings.
  2. Teachers Grade II certificate with at least five merit level passes.

In (i) and (ii) above, the credit/merit level passes must include English Language, Mathematics or Physics and any other 3 relevant subjects.

Technical/Technology Education Programme

Options:

i. Accounting

ii. Commerce & Cooperative

iii. Secretarial Technology

Candidates should possess any of the following:

  • Credit level passes in five (5) subjects at the Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSSC), NECO, NABTEB or any other equivalent at not more than two sittings.
  • Teachers Grade II certificate with at least five merit level passes.

In (i) and (ii) above, the credit/merit level passes must include English Language, Mathematics and any of the following; Principles of Accounts, Economics, Commerce, Office Practice, Business Methods, Shorthand, and Typewriting.

 

Admission Requirements for Graduate Students

To qualify for admission into any of the programmes offered, one of the following is required:

Postgraduate Diploma in Technology/Business Education

  1. Graduates of engineering and technology or Business Education who have obtained a second class honours degree or its equivalent.
  2. Candidates with Higher National Diploma or its equivalent in Engineering/Technology or Business Education, from a tertiary institution approved by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), and who have obtained not less than a lower credit pass.

 

Master of Science Degree Programme

  1. Graduates of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka or of other recognized universities who have obtained at least a second-class honours degree or its equivalent in Vocational-Technical, Technical/Technology education or industrial technical education or Business Education.
  2. Graduates of engineering/technology who have obtained a second class honours degree or its equivalent and have in addition, a recognized Post-Graduate Diploma Certificate in Education or Technical/Technology Education or Vocational Technical Education, or Industrial-Technical Education or Vocational Technical Education, or Industrial-Technical Education or Business Education at merit level.
  3. Candidates with Higher National Diploma or its equivalent in Engineering/Technology or Business Education, from tertiary institutions recognized by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), and have obtained not less than a lower credit pass and in addition have obtained a recognized Post Graduate Diploma Certificate in Technical/Technology Education (PGDTE) or Vocational-Technical Education or Industrial Technical education or Business Education at merit level.

           

Doctor of Philosophy Programme

Candidates with a master of science Degree in industrial Education, Technology/Technical Education or Vocational-technical education or Business Education from Nnamdi Azikiwe University or other approved/recognized Universities may be considered for admission into the Doctor of philosophy programme (provided that they have obtained FCGPA of not less than 3.5 on a 5- point scale or its equivalent on a 4- point scale) In their Master of Science degree
