The Adult and Continuing Education Department focuses on democracy, equity or fairness to all education. It emphasizes Continuing Education (CE) and Education and Education for All (EFA). In line with the Nigerian Constitution it stipulates among others that no one should be discriminated against in education on grounds of age, sex, tongue, tribe, domicile, religion, calling, etc.
The department prepares students for professional courses in adult education. The students are given theoretical and practical background to make them function optimally in their respective areas of specialization.
Another underlying philosophy is to induce community consciousness in the graduates of Adult Education Department, making them essentially relevant to themselves and the society in which they live, inculcating spirit of self-reliance in them and making them skillful users of tools.
